The Skoda 430 was the first Czech car to be produced on an assembly line and 3,600 were built. This article shows what is probably the most original, if not the only, Skoda 430 still in existence, which looks exactly as it left the factory in 1930 with a lot of patina.
In 1955, Otakar Diblik designed a roadster for Skoda with the aim of supplementing the 440 model series. The material used was a fiberglass laminate, and the hardtop of the open sports car was made of Plexiglas. Some of the technology also broke new ground. Unfortunately, the car never made it out of the prototype stage. After years of continuous decay, the roadster was rescued and almost completely restored to its original condition. This report tells the story of the Skoda 440 Spartak Polytex roadster and shows the car through all its metamorphoses.
At the beginning of the sixties, the Skoda Felicia offered the joys of a convertible, coupled with robustness and reliability. The magazine 'hobby' took the pretty convertible to task and came to the conclusion that there was hardly a similar alternative. This report reproduces the original wording of the test at the time, supplemented by pictures and advertising images from the period.
The new Skoda model, named after its plant in Mlada Boleslav, no longer resembles the Octavia. With its remarkable amount of space and equipment above the level of its class, the 1000 MB, which was completely redesigned in the CSSR, certainly had sales prospects. How good can a car be if its only selling point is its extremely low price? Or to put it another way: what did the Skoda 100 and 110 still have to offer after they became significantly more expensive as part of the 1970 model update? The answer in this historical test report was as sobering as it was clear: apart from the space on offer, not much.
