Ageing leaves its mark on vehicles, which connoisseurs refer to as "patina". For years, the trade press and Concours d'Elegance have mainly featured classic cars with a high-gloss finish and restored to condition 1, but slowly a change in thinking is taking place, as could be seen this year at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. Patina has its own charm and only unrestored vehicles allow conclusions to be drawn about the manufacturing quality and precise design of a car at the time. With this in mind, we show here a Skoda 430 built in 1930 with genuine patina. It looks as if it has just left the factory. This Skoda is an officially recognized Czech cultural asset in its original condition from the 1930s. For more than 81 years on the road, it has never been restored or modified, with the exception of the legally required indicators.
