The British car brand Humber has a rich history in a wide variety of areas. In addition to automobiles, the company was also involved in motorcycles and even aviation. However, Humber was never really able to assert itself in the latter area. But in the automotive and motorcycle sectors, it did. Whether private customers or armies from the most diverse countries - Humber's customer base was extensive. Despite the success of this brand, not many people can remember it today. This report brings you closer to the history of Humber, supplemented by many pictures and lots of sales brochures from various years.
Humber was something like the English Mercedes-Benz of the interwar period. For those with a feel for technology and who are not driven by the hectic pace of modern life, the quality cars from Nottingham still offer a pleasant driving experience today. In this article, we present the Humber 16/60 from 1935 and take a look back at a time when country roads were still built like country lanes and cars were still built like furniture.
From 1952 to 1955, Humber produced the Super Snipe Mk4, a stately automobile with an inline six-cylinder engine that proved its worth on long journeys in particular. As an English car produced in Australia, it represents a special version of the globalized value chains of the time. This report characterizes the Humber Super Snipe Mk4, which is hardly known to us, and shows it in many historical and new pictures, including a sales brochure.
With the Humber Super Snipe, the Rootes Group built a splendid saloon that did not chum itself up with extravagant styling, but offered plenty of quality and comfort in the spirit of British "understatement" without being particularly expensive or sophisticated. Only in the top speed tests did the voluminous Briton prove surprisingly sensitive. This article reproduces an original test report from 1960 and shows the Humber Super Snipe in historical pictures and sales material.

And as with the coupé, the saloon also showed that the Sunbeam was actually a fine car and well worth considering - but its advantages were not clear enough to set it apart from the domestic competition.
