In 1941, General Motors delivered a very special Cadillac to the former King Edward VIII of England and his wife Wallis Simpson. It was a one-off built by Harvey Earl and his "Styling Section" and was hardly ever seen in public until a few years ago. Now, freshly restored, it can be purchased at auction in New York. This vehicle report tells the story of the special 1941 Cadillac and its owner Eduard VIII and shows it in impressive pictures, together with archive images of the series counterparts of the time.

Cadillac - Standard of the World
In the post-war years, Cadillac not only managed to regain its former greatness, it also surpassed the production figures of the pre-war years. The famous brand, which had been founded in 1902, remained at the forefront of American luxury manufacturers and managed to keep even the richest in line with special versions. This retrospective mainly highlights the years 1945 to 1960 and shows some of the cars produced at that time in a rich picture gallery.
Movie cars have been particularly popular for many years, but only a few have even managed to have the movie named after them. A 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible was the star of "Pink Cadillac", in which the car is driven by Clint Eastwood and Bernadette Peters. The 5.7-meter-long car with its excessive fins has survived. This driving report portrays the movie car, shows film clips and documents from the shooting, supplemented by the development history of the Series 62 Cadillac.
Between 1965 and 1970, Cadillac built the Sixty Special on the GM C platform, the "Fleetwood" version of which was the most expensive way to drive a Cadillac in this country. The almost monumental luxury liner was also suitable for use as a state limousine, five of which served as Federal Council limousines. This report portrays one of the five state limousines, explains its technology and origin and describes driving impressions in words, pictures and sound, supplemented by historical documents and factory photos.
