The Abarth 1300 OT was built in around 50 units between 1965 and 1966 and dominated Division 1 of the GT World Championship in 1966 and 1967. Beneath the attractive fiberglass body, designed by Mario Colucci, are a Simca 1000 box-section frame, Fiat 850 suspension components and the twin-camshaft engine from Abarth. This article goes into the history of the 1300 Omologato Turismo and shows a vehicle from 1966 in detail, both visually and tonally, as well as on historical photo material and in the original sales brochure.
Between 1966 and 1971, Abarth produced the 124/1300 model, which combined the coupé body of the Fiat 850 with the engine of the 124 saloon. With 75 hp, the compact car offered very competitive driving performance, but this was also reflected in a self-confident price. This report portrays a Fiat-Abarth 124/1300 Series 2 and shows the various models in historical photographs.
Between 1968 and 1971, Francis Lombardi produced an attractively shaped coupé called the "850 Grand Prix", which was based on proven Fiat components, but was completely independent in terms of design.
