Siata was an initial name (like Fiat, Alfa, Osca or Simca) and stood for Socièta Italiana Applicazioni Trasformazioni Automobilistiche when it was founded in 1926, later for Socièta Italiana Auto-Trasformazioni Accessori. Giorgio Ambrosini 's Turin-based company helped Fiat buyers to effectively increase performance with its own engine parts, including OHV cylinder heads. After 1945, the bombed-out factory was rebuilt and, in addition to tuning kits, successful 750 cc racing cars were constructed. In 1949, the Amica was created, a charming small convertible in pontoon form on a platform frame with a 569 cc engine. It was based on Fiat elements; this also applied to the numerous larger models that followed. From 1950, there were the Siata Daina sports convertibles and coupés derived from the Fiat 1400 with elegant Stabilimenti Farina bodies.
