The white Fiat 1100 has been in the care of its current, second owner since 1966, after serving as a family car with his parents for nine years. The mileage today is 230,000 km. Over the course of 55 years, various smaller and somewhat larger interventions have been carried out, which can be described as "rolling restorations". The engine block is still the original one, as are the gearbox and the axles. Ongoing restoration As a result of the inadequate corrosion precautions common at the time, it became unavoidable - as with almost all classic cars of the period - to carry out some sheet metal repairs. In 1966, the door sills and parts of the front wheel arches were replaced. The floor panels held up well overall and only had to be repaired by welding in a few repair panels in the front footwell. On the engine, the pistons, crankshaft and cylinder head were replaced 20 years ago (conversion for unleaded operation), as were the clutch and the wheel suspension bushes. The cardan shaft was overhauled and balanced. The water pump, alternator and regulator required several overhauls and replacements.
