Summary
On October 27, 2018, RM/Sotheby's auctioned 63 vehicles from the sports car manufacturer from Zuffenhausen, including of course a tractor, alongside many Porsche automobiles in Atlanta. The total value of the vehicles, which are on average 35 years old, was estimated at almost USD 38 million, meaning that over USD 580,000 was expected per lot. In the end, the sales rate was 84 percent, with almost USD 476,000 paid per vehicle lot. The most valuable was the Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar from 1985, which came into new hands for almost USD 6 million; the highest bid was 1.7 times the average estimate. But there were other surprises too. This auction report analyzes the results and shows the vehicle lots in the picture.

Single-brand auctions have become a focal point of the auction scene in recent years. Whether Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin, Ferrari or Porsche, all these brands guarantee an affluent bidding public and attractive lot lists. After RM/Sotheby's held an exclusive Ferrari auction in Maranello a year ago, an auction exclusively featuring Porsche vehicles and automobilia was held on October 27, 2018. The venue chosen was the new Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta (USA), a huge facility that attracts Porsche enthusiasts from all over North America. In addition to the numerically significant automobilia, 63 vehicles, including a tractor and a chassis without bodywork, went under the hammer. The total value amounted to almost USD 38 million. An average of around USD 580,000 was expected per vehicle lot. More than half of the vehicles were offered without a reserve price.
