Summary
RM/Sotheby's called the exclusive auction "New York - Icons", which was to make bidders for 32 cars around USD 55 million (EUR 46 million, CHF 53.8 million) poorer on December 6, 2017. It didn't quite turn out to be that much, but USD 45 million for 25 cars sold is impressive, so on average the new owners paid USD 1.8 million for their new car, including a Jaguar C-Type, a Ferrari 250 GT California Spider with Le Mans history, but also a BMW Z8 or an Aston Martin DB5 Convertible. This report analyzes the results, describes the mood on site and shows pictures of all the vehicles on offer.

RM/Sotheby's called the exclusive auction "New York - Icons", which is set to make bidders around USD 55 million (EUR 46 million, CHF 53.8 million) poorer for 32 cars on December 6, 2017. And we're only talking about the 1:1 vehicles here - the wines, children's cars, works of art and automobilia cost extra, so to speak. The fact that a lot of money was gathered in the hall of Sotheby's in New York was already evident in the banter leading up to the car auction. If a few bottles of wine from Tuscany can be sold for over USD 4000, then it wasn't small savers who were bidding. The auctioneer then asked laconically whether the highest bidder wanted to drink the wine on the spot.
