Summary
On August 19 and 20, RM/Sotheby's hosted its well-established two-day sale event in Monterey as part of Pebble Beach Week, bringing just over 100 vehicles (and a watch) worth over USD 160 million under the hammer. A Jaguar D-Type and an Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 made for high-profile world records, but in their shadows there were also some bargain opportunities. Preview (beginning of the article)
On August 19 and 20, RM/Sotheby's hosted its well-established two-day sale event in Monterey as part of Pebble Beach Week, bringing just over 100 vehicles (and a watch) worth more than USD 160 million under the hammer. A new owner was found for 82 vehicles, which corresponds to a sale rate of around 81%. The average selling price (incl. commission/surcharge) was USD 1.44 million (EUR 1.27 million, CHF 1.38 million), with total sales amounting to almost USD 120 million. The fact that the estimated prices were a little high is shown by the average sales price, which was around 10% below the estimate and also included commission/surcharge.
