Summary
The Grand Prix Historique in Monaco takes place every two years and, as a particularly glamorous historic motorsport event, naturally provides the perfect setting for auctions. On May 12, 2018, RM/Sotheby's offered 85 cars and a boat with a total value of over EUR 41 million, including a BMW 3.0 CSL, a Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Lightweight and many small and large cult classics. While expensive Ferrari and cult classics disappointed, a Chevrolet Corvette and the Pope's Lamborghini caused bidding euphoria. This auction article analyzes the results and shows all the cars in pictures.

Preview (beginning of the article)
The Grand Prix Historique in Monaco takes place every two years and, as a particularly glamorous historic motorsport event, naturally provides the perfect setting for auctions. After two withdrawals, 85 cars and a boat were finally on offer, together worth over 41 million euros. However, the bidding public did not want to participate as planned. Only 67 percent of the vehicles were sold, with the highest bids averaging 85 percent of the average estimate. In line with the trend of the times, the Monaco offerings from RM/Sotheby's were also characterized by a young age. On average, the vehicles were just over 40 years old. 20 cars were even from the current millennium and, together with 11 others, had not even reached the classic car threshold.
