Preview (beginning of the article)
It is an unusual auction for RM/Sotheby's, which was organized for the tenth time in Hershey on 6 and 7 October 2016. Some models would hardly be offered at other RM auctions, but Hershey has a heart for American exotics with bread-and-butter flair. The event lasted two days, during which 113 automobiles, estimated at a total of USD 14.54 million), went under the hammer. 55 percent of the vehicles were auctioned without a reserve price, so the excitement was high. Those responsible at RM/Sotheby's were satisfied with the 100 cars sold (sales rate 88%), but perhaps somewhat less so with the total turnover of USD 11.3 million, which was 13% below expectations.
