Preview (beginning of the article)
One-make auctions are popular, so it was certainly fitting to pay tribute to the Ferrari brand, which is celebrating its 70th birthday this year. RM/Sotheby's managed to organize a unique auction in Maranello in collaboration with the manufacturer. Even Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne took the opportunity to address the bidders. He also had reason to be pleased, as the sports cars with the Cavallo Rapante were highly valued. 41 cars worth around EUR 69 million (CHF 78 million) were announced. Another car was then added as a surprise, the prototype of the Ferrari LaFerrari from 2013, a car that you can put in your collection but are not supposed to drive according to the sales agreement. Nevertheless, EUR 1.88 million was offered for the one-off, which went under the hammer almost at the end.
