A practical translation table, based on a version that appeared in a simpler version over 30 years ago in the magazine Automobil- und Motorrad-Chronik, is intended to provide help here with almost 400 expression variants in English, French, Italian, Spanish and Dutch.

When communicating with foreign classic car drivers or studying foreign-language magazines or books, interested parties are often faced with language barriers. You can usually make yourself understood with school English or French, but as in any other specialist field, you can't avoid memorizing a few special terms when it comes to classic cars. It is much safer to move around abroad, for example when searching for a vehicle or negotiating with a garage if you need outside help while on the road. That was the case 30 years ago and is probably still true today. This is why the table published in the magazine Automobil- und Motorrad-Chronik in 1985 still seems useful today. However, its publication as a sortable table makes it even more useful, as you can now sort by German, English, French, Spanish or Dutch (newly added) and also search using the normal browser functions.
