Neue Automobil-Gesellschaft (NAG) was founded in 1901 as a subsidiary of AEG (Allgemeine Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft) in Berlin. A car design by Prof. Georg Klingenberg was taken over for this purpose. In 1903, two- and four-cylinder models developed by chief engineer Joseph Vollmer went into production. In addition to passenger cars of the largest caliber, trucks and cabs were built, including those with electric drive. Even Kaiser Wilhelm II had a NAG with an 8-liter four-cylinder engine built as a double phaeton. In 1908, a smaller model, the Puck, was added, which was modernized three years later and renamed the Darling. However, like Mercedes, Maybach and Horch, the NAG brand gained its reputation in the luxury and prestige car segment.
