Hanomag 1925-1941 - Start with a dwarf
Summary
There were around 10,000 car brands and designers - most of them have disappeared. One of these lost brands is Hanomag, Hannoversche Maschinenbau AG. Its best-known model is a small car with the nickname Kommissbrot. After the 2/10 PS, Hanomag designed other, somewhat more conventional models, which were also more or less successful. After the Second World War, they concentrated again on the production of commercial vehicles.

It secured Hanomag a place of honor in automotive history: the 2/10 hp minibus with the nickname Kommissbrot, so called because it resembled the open-faced loaves of bread baked for the army. This tiny bread was developed by Fidelis Böhler. The 332 cm short and 370 kg light two-seater was based on a steel frame with a floor platform and had a single-cylinder engine mounted transversely in front of the rear axle with a displacement of 502 cm3 and an output of10 hp. Although it caused a few shivering chills when idling, it only consumed 4 liters per 100 km! With its first pontoon shape, the Hanomag 2/10 PS, built on the assembly line from 1925, also represented a stylistic step into the modern age.
