Preview (beginning of the article)
Gooding Christie's auctioned 128 cars and four motorcycles over two afternoons on March 5 and 6, 2026 at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elégance at the Omnia Amelia Island Resort. In total, the vehicles that drove across the stage in front of the audience were estimated in advance at almost USD 80 million, with USD 601,163 expected per vehicle lot. Two thirds of the lots were offered without a reserve price. 92% of the vehicles, which were on average 57 years old, were sold, with bidders going for an average of 83% of the median estimate. Outliers at the top and bottom of the range showed that it is not always easy to correctly assess the hunger of interested parties. On average, USD 581,759 changed hands for each car (or motorcycle) sold.
