Summary
The 43rd Geneva International Motor Show took place from March 15 to 25, 1973 and once again offered a grandiose overview of the automobiles that interested buyers could purchase. Despite the lack of news, almost half a million car enthusiasts flocked to Geneva. Highlights included the Sbarro SV1 and the Maserati Khamsin and Lamborghini Countach production models. This exhibition review describes the atmosphere, setting and range of the 43rd Geneva Motor Show and shows the exhibited vehicles in over 120 pictures, some of which have never been published before.

The seventies were not an easy time for car manufacturers. In addition to the energy crisis, it was also necessary to counteract the ever-emerging anti-car waves. Major motor shows were called into question and their measurable and direct effect was doubted. The periodicity was also increasingly questioned and so Turin and Paris switched to a biennial rhythm. The IAA 1971 was even canceled in Frankfurt. However, in his commentary on the forthcoming show, the Automobil Revue reporter also castigated the manufacturers, who were increasingly turning to celebrating premieres outside the show and holding back on investing in the attractiveness of their stands.
