Summary
The 38th Geneva Motor Show was characterized on the one hand by safety, and on the other by the impression that more and more power was available to drivers. This was also effectively underlined by the two concept cars Bertone Panther and Ferrari 250/P5 Pininfarina, but just as much by the constantly increasing engine performance in all vehicle classes. This Salon review reports on the innovations and special features of the 38th Motor Show, which took place from March 14 to 14, 1968, and shows cars, commercial vehicles and accessories from that time in over 220 pictures.

Preview (beginning of the article)
1968 is a number that immediately brings back memories. It is the year of the big student protests, but it is also the year when VAT (10%/5%) was introduced in Germany. The movie "Zur Sache, Schätzchen" premiered in the cinema and hits such as Monja, Delilah and Lady Madonna blared from the transistor radio. From March 14 to 24, 1968, the Geneva Motor Show opened its doors, less rich in world premieres than other years, but full of interesting automobiles. Although Switzerland was once again able to admire a car built in its own country, the Monteverdi High Speed 375 L, at the 38th Geneva Motor Show, the Alpine country naturally remained an import country in principle. All the more interesting, therefore, was the distribution of brands, which in 1967 once again ended with Volkswagen at the top (22,508 vehicles).
