The original design, which America couldn't get enough of, established the classic long nose, narrow cabin and rugged trunk proportions that have become the unmistakable signature of Mustangs ever since. The Mustang interior had its own appeal with a twin cockpit layout and the iconic steering wheel with three bright aluminum spokes. The large wheel diameter of just over 40 cm made it easy to park, as power steering was only available as an optional extra.
