Preview (beginning of the article)
It's hard to imagine a better setup for an auction than the annual highlight of the Goodwood Revival, isn't it? The right audience is definitely there, but the auction also has a serious rival in the form of the racing action on the circuit, because who wants to miss one of the exciting races on the circuit? Well, be that as it may, Bonhams could not complain about a lack of interest and if you add up the sales result, cars were sold for almost 15 million British pounds (Euro 18.7 million, CHF 22.5 million). 68% of the lots found a new owner, who paid an average of £202,847 (Euro 255,587 or CHF 308,327) for them (including commission). On average, the vehicles were sold almost exactly at the estimated price, with a commission of 12% (from 50,000) on top. From this point of view, Bonhams could be more than satisfied with the results, if it weren't for the 32% of lots where the bids did not reach the expected amount.
