Preview (beginning of the article)
They are as much a part of Pebble Beach/Monterey Week as the Concours d'Elégance and the races, the auctions. Bonhams kicked things off by putting 115 cars under the hammer at Quail Lodge on August 19, 2016. The total value of the vehicles was estimated at around 51 million USD (48 million euros, 50 million CHF). Once again, Bonhams had put together a particularly wide range of cars. 25 of the cars were from the pre-war period, 23 from the years 1945 to 1959. 30 cars from the 1960s made up the largest proportion, while 14 vehicles were less than 30 years old, including super sports cars such as the McLaren P1 and the Ferrari LaFerrari.
