Bonhams London-Brighton Auction 2019 - Veterans flying high

On November 1, 2019, Bonhams auctioned 15 automobiles from the years 1899 to 1904 with a total value of £ 1.1 million in addition to many automobiles on the occasion of the annual London-Brighton Run. Interest was considerable, with 12 veterans being sold, some at prices well above their estimates. On November 1, 2019, Bonhams auctioned 15 vehicles from the years 1899 to 1904 with a total value of £ 1.1 million on the occasion of the annual London-Brighton Run, in addition to a large number of automobiles from the early days of the automobile. There was great interest in the veterans, with bids averaging almost 95% of the median estimate. In total, the sum of the bids was even 7% higher than the sum of the median estimates. Three cars were not sold, although the bids were between 70% and 83% of the estimate. Of the 12 vehicles sold, the average bid was almost at the estimated value level, four were sold at a higher price than expected. £ 1.204 million was achieved with the cars including commission/surcharge.
