Three quarters of an hour was all James Knight needed to knock down the cars at "The Golden Age of Motoring" auction on November 1, 2024 at Bonhams headquarters on Bond Street. However, only 13 cars went under the hammer, after around 170 automobiles had already been offered. The bidders offered 111% of the median estimate, 92% of the cars were sold, which means that only one car, the 1901 De Dion Bouton, (just) failed to reach the reserve price. The most expensive old car, on average the auctioned vehicles were 118 years old, was a Darracq 12 HP Twin-Cylinder Four Seat Side-Entrance Tonneau from 1904, which is also allowed to take part in the popular London to Brighton Run, on the occasion of which the Bonhams auction has been held for years (up to year of manufacture 1904).
