On September 10, 2017, Bonhams auctioned 33 cars and a motorcycle at the Chantilly Concours d'Elégance. In comparatively cool weather and with little sunshine, the bidders were not very generous. Instead of the expected almost 10 million euros, only EUR 1.83 million was raised, which was due to the fact that only one of the ten most valuable classic cars found a new owner. With 17% of the vehicles of French origin, cars from the host country were represented at an above-average level. However, a 1928 Bugatti 43 Torpedo style, which was built with many original components but on a newly manufactured chassis, could not be sold, while an original Citroën DS 21 Cabriolet from 1969 changed hands for EUR 184,000 (approx. CHF 210,000).
