Between 1904 and 1965, car races were held at Solitude, some as hill climbs and most as circuit races. The track changed several times, with a total of 16 major motor racing events taking place at Solitude. Almost all vehicle categories raced at Solitude at some point, from touring cars and sports cars to Formula Vee, Formula III, Formula 2, Formula 1 and sports prototypes. Between 1904 and 1965, car races were held at Solitude, with almost all types of vehicles competing at some point. Fourteen race weekends of national or international importance were held. The beginnings of the Solitude races In 1904, a race with "Solitude" in its name took place for the first time. The first time it was held, the route led from Stuttgart's Westbahnhof train station over around four kilometers to Solitude Palace. Incidentally, the race, which featured tough climbs and was open to motorcycles, was won by a lightweight woman, Marie Reuschel from Berlin, who was able to show off her advantages on the slope.
