Summary
The 1970 Monte Carlo Rally ends with a double victory for Porsche. Waldegard wins for the second time. The Lancias reduce themselves and the Alpine is also plagued by bad luck.

After 1969, Björn Waldegard and co-driver Lars Helmer also win the 1970 rally in a Porsche 911S. Second place went to the Frenchmen Gérard Larousse/Gelin. Nicolas/Roure were able to squeeze in between the Porsche of Larousse/Gelin and that of Ake Andersson/Thorszelius in the Alpine-Renault. A turbulent rally on snow and black ice, with lots of spectators and dramatic stories. Andruet/Ecot in a factory-entered Alpine-Renault missed the Fugeret checkpoint, were rightly disqualified and now had to watch from the side of the road. This is the official version. In reality, Andruet caused an accident with a civilian Renault and had to retire.
