From Paris, Geneva, Boulogne-sur-Mer, Brussels, Vienna and Berlin, 16 of the 23 participants in the Monaco Automobile Rally arrive in the Principality on January 28, 1911. Henri Rougier - aviator and well-known GP racing driver - wins this first rally organized by the "Club Sport Automobile et Vélocipédique de Monaco". It is called Rallye-Automobile Monaco and is intended to help the languishing Monegasque winter season get back on its feet. Starting in Paris, 1,020 kilometers away, Rougier personally collects the 10,000 French francs from the management of the casino in his Turcat-Méry with only 25 hp.
