Now in its second year, the 2016 Jaguar Classic Challenge features a very interesting one-make cup for historic pre-1966 Jaguar models. The series takes place in partnership with the Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC). It is open to MKl, MKll, D-Types, C-Types, early E-Types and XK models 120, 140 and the SS. In 2016, the races were held at Donington, Silverstone, Le Mans, Nürburgring and Oulton Park.
After 2015, the weight limits were adjusted to improve equality of opportunity. The XK120 was lightened from 1268 to 1218, the XK140 from 1323 to 1273, the XK150 from 1303 to 1253 and the S-Type from 1558 to 1475 kg. Nevertheless, the extensively optimized E-Types continue to lead the way.
The Jaguar Classic Challenge was also part of the program at the 2016 Le Mans Classic , filling the eighth starting field alongside the Group C prototypes and the six different plateaus, so to speak. This meant that pure action was on offer at Le Mans for longer than the usual 24 hours.
Just a few weeks later, the Jaguar one-make cup started on the occasion of the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix on the Nürburgring GP circuit. Most of the pictures are from both Le Mans and the Nürburgring and show that even in a one-make race there is no need for formal boredom, on the contrary!
The Jaguar Challenge will enter its third season in 2017. Five races are planned as part of major, well-known racing events:
- April 28-30, 2017: Donington Historic Festival
- July 1 to 2, 2017: Brands Hatch Super Prix (GP Circuit)
- July 28 to 30, 2017: Silverstone Classic
- August 26 to 28, 2017: Oulton Park Gold Cup
- September 15 to 17, 2017: Spa Six Hours
