Because the Board of Management had decided to withdraw from Formula 2, the BMW works team celebrated the official farewell race at the Munich-Neubiberg airfield like a funeral on the last weekend of October 1970. Rainer Braun turns back the clock and explains what happened back then and why BMW did not withdraw after all.
