Six rallies count towards the Swiss Rally Championship in 2011. Four will take place in Switzerland: The Rallye Critérium Jurassien, the Rallye du Chablais, the Rallye Ronde Ticino and the Rallye du Valais. One event takes place in France - the Rallye du Pays du Gier - and one in Italy, the Rallye Valle Cunesi. With the exception of the Rallye du Valais, the Coupe Suisse des Rallies Historiques is held for historic rally cars with FIA papers - parallel to the championship. To kick off the 2011 Swiss rally season, we look back a few decades to when a rally was also held in German-speaking Switzerland. In 1972, a few enthusiasts organized the 1st Uri Night Rally, followed three years later by the Rally Uri, the first round of the Swiss Rally Championship founded in 1975.
