This year's edition of the Brands Hatch Masters Historic Festival took place on May 25 and 26 in England. Many different categories were open for competition.
Equipe GTS
In the 1965 TVR Grantura 1800S, Atkins clearly won ahead of Holme in the Austin-Healey 3000 MKII (1962) with an impressive lead of 15 seconds. However, second-placed Holme set the fastest lap time with 1:51.533.
However, the entire field drove great laps and mostly at the limit, as the photo of the 911 shows.
FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship
Here, Martin Stretton in the Tyrrell 012 (1983) crosses the finish line in the first race just five hundredths ahead of Michael Lyons in the Williams FW07B (1980). An extremely close decision! Third-placed Matteo Ferrer-Aza also crossed the finish line only shortly afterwards. Williams and Ferrer had been hot on Stretton's heels throughout the race, a real treat for the spectators.
In the second race, Steve Hartley (McLaren MP4/1, 1982) overtook the leading Jamie Constable in the Tyrrell 011 and managed to keep Martin Stretton in the Tyrrell 012 at bay until the safety car ended the race on lap 12.
Meanwhile, Phil Hall won the pre-78 class. His Theodore TR1 was always just ahead of James Hagan's Hesketh 308. At the start of the race, the class was led by Henry Fletcher in the March 761, but he was forced to stop on the seventh lap, costing him the class lead. Jason Wright had initially been in second place after his car spun on its own axis on the fourteenth lap, but was clearly beaten. Miraculously, he still managed to finish third overall, what a race to catch up.

Gentlemen Drivers: Pre-66 GT Cars
In the 36-car field of Gentlemen Drivers, Julian Thomas and Calum Lockie in the 1965 Shelby Daytona Cobra won by a clear margin of almost a minute over second-placed Rob Fenn and Jake Hill in the Lotus Elan 26R (1965). The gap had been smaller, but Hill had to make a pit stop. Hill simply had no answer to the Daytona Cobra.
Historic Formula 2
34 Formula 2 cars were on the grid here. Miles Griffiths claimed victory in this category in the 1978 Ralt RT1. Second was Martin Stretton in the March 782 (1978) with a time difference of 1.5 seconds.
Masters Pre-66 Touring Cars with 42 starters
The decision was made on lap 20, when Jake Hill in the Ford Mustang overtook Mark Sumpter's Lotus Cortina and it stayed that way until the end. However, Sumpter was able to defend second place. Third-placed Craig Davies led the field for a long time, but was dropped back a few places after a sudden pit stop and an unscheduled safety car period. The safety car had caused quite a shake-up in the standings.
FIA Masters Historic Sports Cars
In an abbreviated historic sports car race, interrupted by three safety car appearances, Robert Beebee and Martin O'Connell emerged victorious.
In their 1969 Lola T70 MK3B, they beat Henry Fletcher in the Chevron B26 (1974) into second place by almost a second. Fletcher had led from lap 2 to 25, but was then unable to hold off the Lola.
Colmore Youngtimer Touring Car Challenge
First place went to the Ford Escort MK2 RS (1976), which was driven by Brown. With a lead of 17 seconds over Nowak behind in the CN Cobra, it was a pretty clear-cut victory.
