On April 28, 2011, Karl Foitek celebrated his 80th birthday with family and friends. It was a successful celebration with many prominent guests. There was a lot to laugh about, as Karl's life contains many entertaining episodes worth telling. On December 1 , 1951, a twenty-year-old Austrian traveled to Switzerland. He introduced himself as Karl Foitek and had a solid education as a car mechanic and good references. Foitek's first acquaintance with the Swiss car industry was not exactly what he had expected. He would almost have gone home disappointed if Emil Frey had not offered him a job at the last minute.
