The film pioneer, racing driver and bon vivant Count Alexander Kolowrat was born 130 years ago. To be precise, on January 29, 1886, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, United States. His full name was Alexander Joseph Count Kolowrat-Krakowsky, but he was better known as Count Sascha Kolowrat or Count Kilowatt, as he was also known because of his energy. Sascha fell in love with motorized bicycles long before he turned 18. His father forbade him from taking part in races, but Sascha continued to compete under a pseudonym. Later, he even won several races. He was sent to Switzerland so that he could get away from racing and later manage his father's large estates. However, his stay did not go as planned, even if nobody at home noticed. Sascha had postcards written by himself and sent from Switzerland while he was racing...
