In October 1971, the Cologne-based record company Electrola invited all available sports journalists from the Cologne/Bonn/Düsseldorf area on a bus trip to the Nürburgring. The motto of the surprise tour: "We're stopping Howard Carpendale". To this end, stopwatches will be distributed to all guests on the bus. At the Ring, we are directed to reserved window seats with a view of the track in the Sporthotel. The half a hundred lifestyle journalists who have also arrived are placed on the pit roof.
