Summary
Prominent racing drivers spent part of their career on Veritas. And achieved many successes with it. For many, this brand is therefore unforgotten. But the rise was not easy; the post-war period often made things difficult for racing enthusiasts. One attempt to succeed with road sports cars failed. The Veritas brand died an early death. This retrospective describes Veritas' journey and shows some of the vehicles in rare historical footage.

The history of the first German post-war car brand actually began long before 1945. BMW businessman Lorenz Dietrich, staff sergeant Schorsch Meier (the "cast-iron man") and engineer Ernst Loof, once a partner in the small motorcycle factory "Imperia", forged plans for the future together: Loof wanted to build sports cars after the war, Meier was to drive them and Dietrich was to sell them... The plans were indeed to take shape. On March 1, 1947, Dietrich, Loof and the cycling world champion Werner Miethe founded the Veritas consortium in Hausen, Württemberg. Loof was responsible for technical management, Dietrich for commercial management.
