The spiritual father and designer of the Talbot-Lago company from 1935 was Anthony Lago. In the years 1948-51, a total of 23 T26C Monopostos were built. In 1949, they won two Grand Prix races that were not yet official. The Belgian GP with Louis Rosier at the wheel of chassis 110001 and the French GP with Louis Chiron in chassis 110007. For the victory in Reims, the Monegasque Louis Chiron received the T26C from Anthony Lago, as the latter was unable to remunerate him in any other way! The monoposto with the type designation T26C made its debut at the 1948 Grand Prix of Nations in Geneva with Louis Rosier at the wheel. The six-cylinder in-line engine without supercharger had an output of around 240 hp at 4700 rpm. The car was inferior to the competition from Alfa, Ferrari and Maserati in terms of performance, but was able to complete the race without refueling.
