Alfa Romeo engaged four drivers for the 1996 German Touring Car Championship, which has since been elevated to "International Touring Car Championship" (ITC) status: Christian Danner, Nicola Larini, Alessandro Nannini and Giancarlo Fisichella. The new JAS team also included Stefano Modena, Gabriele Tarquini, Michael Bartels and, as a newcomer, the Dane Jason Watt.
