As part of this year's London-to-Brighton Veteran Car Run, the Royal Automobile Club hosted the first "St. James Motoring Spectacle". Steam, electric and internal combustion engines of all kinds, from 130-year-old motor coaches to brand new hyper sports cars, gathered outside the RAC headquarters in Pall Mall. Our "England Corrspondent" visited the spectacle in central London.

In the run-up to the annual "Veteran Car Run" from London to Brighton on November 3, traffic in central London came to a standstill the day before to host the "St. James Motoring Spectacle". Part of this new spectacle was the International Concours on Pall Mall, just outside the historic headquarters of the Royal Automobile Club. Vehicles from the early days of the automobile - including electric or steam-powered examples - were represented as well as a strong presence of "young" classics from the sixties. Really all kinds of vehicles were on display: from 120-year-old public buses to current Le Mans racing cars and ultra-modern super sports cars. Of course, movie celebrities such as James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 from "Goldfinger" were not to be missed in this all-encompassing spectrum.
