Severe winter weather was forecast for practically the entire United States for the first weekend of March 2023. And so it was - from the East Coast to the Pacific, snowy storms had the giant country firmly in their grip. Only in the north-east of Florida did the sunny, warm spring make an appearance - which meant that the big classic weekend on Amelia Island landed right on the spot. Included in the program for the sixth time: the huge spring meeting of the Porsche Club of America. Its promising name: Werks Reunion.
On Friday, March 3, 2023, the huge fairways of the noble Amelia River Golf Club on the Atlantic coastal island were completely under the motto "Made in Zuffenhausen". 167 Porsches - the vast majority of them illustrious oldies - were registered for the evaluation classes of the club's internal Concours d'Elegance. In addition, more than 500 of the world-famous German sports cars were on display in the neighboring parking lot. "Free admission" - this predicate attracted around 4,000 visitors, who not only enjoyed the almost 700 colorful cars with the Stuttgart city coat of arms.
Those who wandered between the 356 and 911, the 914 and 968, the 944 and 968 might have spotted the famous NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon. Or the no less famous "urban outlaw" Magnus Walker, who appeared in his usual popular chatty mood, but this time with a leather floppy hat over his felt dreadlocks. Or the legendary long-distance hero Derek Bell, who had to sign autographs non-stop.
Meanwhile, the sports cars from more than 70 years of Porsche played the leading role. We show the impressions of our tour in the extensive photo gallery. Which one, dear readers, is your favorite Porsche in this colorful photo gallery?
If you would like to experience an event of this kind live, the next option is on August 18, 2023. The next Werks Reunion will take place as part of Monterey Car Week in California - the gigantic classic car week that culminates in the traditional Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach and the Historic Races in Laguna Seca. Admission is also free there. Further information: www.werksreunion.com
