Passione Engadina is an exclusive event exclusively for Italian classic cars. It takes place over three days in the beautiful surroundings of the Engadine and through the center of St. Moritz. A maximum of 100 cars are admitted because the event wants to remain familiar and intimate, which has characterized it in recent years.
Passione Engadina was held for the third time from August 22 to 24, 2014. 100 participating vehicles took part in five categories. The first category was for vehicles built up to 1945, the second for classic cars from 1946 to 1960, the third for cars built between 1961 and 1970, the fourth category was for vehicles built between 1971 and 1984 and the fifth category was for Maserati sports cars and special models.
As part of "100 years of Maserati", Maserati chose Passione Engadina 2014 as its main event in Switzerland. Numerous examples with the trident could be admired in the Engadin and on the Graubünden pass roads.
Guest vehicles at the event included Fredy Lienhard's Maserati MC12, a Maserati Birdcage and a Maserati Bellagio. The "100 years of Maserati" anniversary was celebrated in style with the participation and presence of more than 30 Maserati.
Other representatives of automotive Italianità included numerous models from Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Fiat, as well as rarer models such as an Iso Grifo, De Tomaso and Bizzarini.
The St. Moritz Race covered 195 km in around 5 hours at an average speed of 42 km/h. On the way, the participants had to master four special stages and two mountain passes (Julier and Flüela Pass).
Also part of the Passione Engadina was the St. Moritz Challenge Cup, in which the riders had to master three regularity tests at Samedan Airport. The winners were Ottaviano Checchi and Giovanna Franchi in a 1970 Maserati Indy.
Incidentally, this year's wood-carved prizes with animal symbols came from the Samedan-based Movimento association . This association supports people who suffer from long-term or short-term restrictions in their daily lives. At Passione Engadina, they had the opportunity to get into the cars of the event participants at Samedan Airport for a short tour and experience a unique experience.
The surprise of the Passione Engadina gala evening was the live performance by Simona Bencini, from the group Dirotta su Cuba, this time as a soloist in a small circle.
