The contrast to the first Oldtimer Sunday Morning meeting in Zug in May 2019 could not have been greater! A month earlier, some of the cars still had snow on their roofs, but on June 2, 2019, the summer sun was making people sweat and want to sit in the shade.
The best conditions for a good turnout of visitors and the coveted places were indeed taken early on, so that the outdoor parking lot had to be used.
Just like on the streets of yesteryear
The interesting thing about events such as the Sunday Morning Treffen is the wide range of former everyday cars, today often referred to as "bread-and-butter cars", which are now often rarer than some exotic cars.
Unfortunately, they are all too rarely seen at concours and rallies, but they are very welcome at meetings such as the bull stables in Zug.
When mass-produced vehicles become exotic
Anyone strolling through the rows in Zug could see cars that were on every street corner 40 or 60 years ago, but are rarer today than many a Ferrari. A green VW Golf L with chrome bumpers from the early years, for example, a Fiat 1100 or an Austin A35, but also a BMW Isetta or an Opel Kadett A - they are all cars that we can still remember, even though they have long since disappeared from everyday traffic.
They can only be spotted again on old postcards or at the Oldtimer Sunday Morning Meeting in Zug.
Also like sporty
Of course, it wasn't just the good everyday cars of yesteryear that were on show in Zug on June 2, 2019, but also some famous sports cars from the pre- and post-war era.
It's the mix that makes the difference and so a Jaguar E-Type stood next to a VW Beetle, a Matra-Simca Bagheera next to a Volvo or a Maserati Ghibli next to a Ford. There were also a number of anniversaries to be seen; 2019 seems to be a year of 50 and 100-year birthdays.
Guest of honor Porsche 928
The friends of the Porsche 928 arrived in an impressive group and parked right by the exit. They didn't even need the eyelashes on a vehicle to emphasize the extraordinary shape of the eight-cylinder front-engine coupé.
Speaking of coupés, there was also a 928 Cabriolet, something that did not exist in the factory but would have suited the model series very well.
Alpine-Renault were also present in large numbers with their A110 and A310 sports cars.
They also found a common place at the back and the audience was delighted with the color and design accents.
A constant coming and going
Thanks to the warm and sunny weather, the traveling museum was constantly changing. New cars were constantly arriving, while the first vehicles left the site in the late morning hours.
This made it worthwhile for visitors to take several tours, as there was always something new to discover.
The picture gallery with over 100 photos should be worth a thousand words, as it highlights many other specialties ... and also shows a few motorcycles.
