From an international perspective, the classic car fairs in Essen and Stuttgart may be Germany's most important events. But the Bremen Classic Motorshow at the beginning of February also has a large format and is, so to speak, the North Star among the events for car history enthusiasts and connoisseurs.
International
Thanks to its geographical location, the Bremen Classic Motorshow is also a magical attraction for fans from Scandinavia and Holland. But even a trip from the south is worthwhile to wander through the seven exhibition halls bathed in the low winter sun. Yes, you will indeed come across witnesses to the Nordic automotive past, starting with the Borgward or Goliath once built in Bremen, but also a wide range of enthusiast and collector cars from all over the world.
Italian elegance
This time, "Bremen" was also dominated by Italy: "Italian Elegance" and "Motorcycle Italy: Design & Race" were the themes of two of the four special shows. There were also numerous exclusive historic racing cars that have rarely been seen elsewhere, such as the Aston Martin DB 4 GT Zagato.
Everyday vehicles
Remarkable on the other hand were everyday vehicles from the 1950s to the "young classics" that were offered for sale on site, some of which were already TÜV-certified. For example, there was a Citroën Ami 6 from 1961 with 65,140 km mileage for €13,900, an almost new Renault 5 from 1979 with 21,000 km for €8900 or a Honda S 800 from 1969 with 51,720 km for €25,900.
Unusual: 250 spaces were reserved for private vendors in the trade fair parking garage. In addition to countless old Mercedes and BMWs, there were also rarities in the cold and windy concrete walls, such as a Triumph TR 3A for €23,800, a Buick 8 Special 1952 for €14,750, a huge Princess aka Austin A 135 from 1958 for €9900 or a less exclusive Ford Granada 2.3 Ghia from 1984 for €7900.
Extensive
Including this vehicle exchange in the parking garage, the Classic Motorshow has a gross exhibition area of 46,815 m2. This year, it counted 650 exhibitors from eleven countries and 44,737 visitors.
On Saturday, people stood quite close together and still enjoyed the show, even if they took a closer look at the exemplary information signs with technical data and vehicle explanations... or took a quick photo with their camera just like the classic cars themselves.
The date of the next event has already been announced. The Bremen Classic Motorshow will take place from February 5 to 7.
