The first 2026 "Older Classics" meeting took place on Sunday, May 10, 2026. The weather was kind to this year's premiere, it was neither too hot nor too cold. Following the tried-and-tested procedure, everyone drove down to the Motorworld site at Kemptthal station and then looked for a parking space along the connecting road or in the upper parking lot.
There were no major traffic jams to deal with, after all you had time to drive in from 09:00 to 16:00.
For visitors without cars or those who had already parked their car (or motorcycle) somewhere, a spot on the Transversale offered the opportunity to admire the classics while enjoying an espresso, a gelato or a bratwurst by the roadside. And to chat with other visitors and participants.
Wide range of vehicles
The wide range of vehicles on display is typical of the Older Classics.
From the small Autobianchi Bianchina or Fiat 500 to the huge road cruiser or classy Bentley, once again everything was there, which could lead to "weisch no" or "I once saw one of those in Cannes" comments.
Cars from Germany, Great Britain and Italy alternated with those from Japan, Sweden, France and the USA. Although there is no actual parking regime, similar vehicles ended up next to each other time and again.
Many Americans
What certainly stood out on May 10 was the extensive presence of American classics.
These were a real feast for the eyes, especially those from the fifties and sixties with their sweeping shapes and versatile chrome ornaments.
When else do you see one of these 5.5-metre-long Dodge Custom 880 station wagons with almost enough space in the trunk for an entire Fiat 500?
Even the pickup trucks that are so popular in the USA found their way to Kemptthal.
Rarities and bread-and-butter
The beauty of events like the Older Classics is also the unpretentious juxtaposition of rarities and former everyday cars.
The first edition of the event was well attended, but not overcrowded. It is possible that the rain forecast for the afternoon or Mother's Day with its obligations prevented some classic car drivers from driving to Kemptthal. But after all, there are still three more opportunities on June 14, August 9 and September 13, 2026.
The picture gallery with over 100 photos gives a more comprehensive impression of the event. As always, we are happy to accept suggestions for corrections, as it is not always easy to determine the correct type designations and years of construction ...
