We meet Claus Theo Gärtner in Berlin, his home town, in the traffic jam, in his bright yellow open Alfa Spider, without a roof, in constant rain. As a passenger, you feel like you're in a movie scene. "My God, it's so slow," he grumbles when he doesn't catch the green light because someone else is dawdling. "Tell me, where the hell did you get your driver's license?" You notice immediately: this man is somehow in constant use and you immediately take it from him that no TV investigator has taken and handed out as many beatings as he has. "Everything Matula has, he got from me, who else would he get it from," he says, smiling mischievously, rainwater dripping from his forehead onto the leather upholstery. "Matula" - Germany's most hard-working TV detective, a role that was and is tailor-made for Claus Theo Gärtner.
