Old cars came together for the third time on August 8, 2021 for the "Older Classics" on the grounds of Motorworld in Kemptthal. The weather may have dampened the spirits of some of the vintage drivers, but the number of classic cars gathered at the old Maggi factory throughout the day was still more than impressive.
The place was already well filled before ten o'clock and during the following hours there was a constant coming and going.
Duos and trios
Anyone strolling through the approximately 500-meter-long area could discover interesting groupings time and again. There were two pre-war Salmsons from the cycle car era parked next to each other, while elsewhere three Citroën SMs were parked next to each other.
However, the "groups" were not always parked next to each other, so there were three Dodge Challenger convertibles from 1971 to be seen if you searched almost the entire square at 13:30.
Super sports cars and saloons
Although super sports cars were probably a little sparser than at other Older Classics events due to the weather, you were still amazed to see a Ferrari F40 among the limousines and American cars, or a 300 SL with gullwing doors next to a Beetle.
Mass motorization from the past
As usual, there were also many former bread-and-butter cars in Kemptthal.
Whether they were a Fiat 850, an Opel Olympia Rekord or simply the indestructible Beetle, they were sure to be popular with passers-by.
And it was not uncommon to hear words like "my dad drove one of those" or similar.
Specialties and rarities
Of course, as you strolled around the spacious factory grounds, you also came across rarities that you don't find at every classic car meeting.
For example, you came across a beautiful blue Ford Zephir, a Porsche 924 Carrera GT, a Lancia Appia Lusso Vignale or a DKW F12 Roadster.
A wealth of eras
From the 1920s to almost the modern era (Porsche 964, Nissan Figaro, Super Seven), almost the entire history of the automobile was represented.
Whether Austin Seven, Citroën B14, Lancia Augusta, MG WA, Ponton-Mercedes, BMW Isetta, Peugeot 203, Jaguar E-Type, Ford Capri, Citroën DS 21 Pallas, BMW-Alpina B6 2.8 or Fiat Argenta, there was no lack of representatives from different eras and decades.
Multinational
The mix of manufacturer countries and brands was as refreshing as ever. Cars from Italy, France, Great Britain and Germany were almost equally represented, and vehicles from Japan, Sweden, Austria and Spain were also on display.
Towards the end there were a few raindrops, once again the "rain radar" had probably deceived one or two participants. Nevertheless, the visitors were more than satisfied, because where else can you see, hear and smell such a wide range of vehicles in such a short space of time... and even drink an espresso or a "Cüpli" at the same time?
