Würenlos doesn't exactly sound like Pebble Beach or Cernobbio/Como and an industrial site can't compete with a castle park or a golf course. But that didn't stop around 800 owners of vintage and classic cars (on two to four wheels) from driving to the Swiss Plateau in perfect weather conditions on September 3, 2023 and meeting up at the Huba Control site in Würenlos. The event took place for the sixth time.
Two-part
The meeting is organized by the Lägern Classic association. And for some years now, it has actually consisted of two parts: The Lägern Cruise with a drive around the Lägern and the get-together in Würenlos.

Big rush
The first classics were already demanding entry at 08:30, even though the official start was actually scheduled for 09:00. And until the evening there was a constant coming and going, especially as some of the classic riders went on the round trip and came back again.

There was therefore plenty to see for the 3000 or so visitors (with or without an old car or motorcycle), especially in the entrance area, where many lined up and sat down so as not to miss an oldie.
Remarkable variety
The range of classic cars spread across the various parking lots was huge. Pre-war cars lined up between youngtimers and anyone who feared that a minimum age of only 20 years (up to 2004) would lead to mainly young cars entering the square was mistaken.

In addition to many bread-and-butter cars from past eras, there were also some truly exotic cars such as pre-war sports cars from AC and MG or a Datsun Fairlady from the sixties.

The Toyota Previa, which arrived with a caravan and also had an exceptional position as a mid-engined van, should also be counted among the exotics.

But you don't see a Chrysler fire engine with a Bentley radiator grille or a Puma 1600 GT every day either.

There were certainly some focal points to note, for example the proportion of US vehicles was relatively high and of course there was no shortage of Volkswagens.

And the former everyday cars from Fiat, Opel, Ford and Renault were also very much in evidence.
Good atmosphere
Of course, food and drink were provided and the cool sound of the band "Steamy Joe" invited visitors to linger.

And between bratwurst and the next beer, you could go for another spin and admire the newly arrived cars on the grounds.

"Do you remember?" was probably one of the phrases most often heard when visitors recognized cars from the past.
There was a competition to win a Gulf Sportbag or a Motorex Classic engine oil, among other things, and every newcomer was photographed at the entrance so that a lasting memory could be created in preparation for the next Lägern Classic in a year's time.
P.S. As always, the car is happy if vehicle owners correct any incorrect details in their comments. The picture gallery gives a broad insight into the diverse meeting.
