Preview (beginning of the article)
Bonhams has been organizing a Saturday afternoon auction at the Goodwood Revival for many years. On September 7, 2024, while the racing cars raged around the circuit, the time had come again. 89 vehicles worth around £13.9 million went under the hammer, with the years of manufacture ranging from 1905 to 2021. Only seven cars came under the hammer without a reserve price, which partly explains the relatively low sales rate of 52%. Above all, however, the bidders seemed to have lost some of their desire to buy in the last third, which is understandable after more than 7 hours of auctioning (including the automobiles that came before the cars).
