After a break in July, the time had come again: in beautiful weather and hot temperatures, over 300 classic cars traveled to Zurich for the third Dolder Classics. Some had traveled from far and wide to park their beauties on the Dolder ice rink. The event was already in full swing from 9:00 a.m. and the spaces filled up quickly. Some classic cars already had to wait at the entrance after midday, as all the parking spaces were taken. But some of them drove on after an hour or two, so that spaces were constantly becoming available again: the spectators were presented with a constantly changing backdrop of classic cars and new arrivals could be discovered on every tour...
So if you wanted to see as many vehicles as possible, it was better to arrive early. Because nobody knew which vehicle would be there for the whole day or just for an hour. During a brief chat with the owner of a red Dino 246 GTS, I learned that he was a little disappointed to have missed the yellow Dino of the morning, and that next time he too would arrive earlier...
The event officially lasted until 15:00, but the last ones were still on the square until shortly before 16:00.
If you missed this unique classic car event in the Zurich area or would otherwise like to take another look at the vehicles, you can enjoy the variety of brands in our photo gallery from the 3rd Dolder Classics 2011 .
For the organizers Roland Sieg and Christoph Lehmann the event was certainly a success, they had never counted more than 300 classic cars before. Let's all hope for a beautiful September so that the fourth and last Dolder Classics of the year can be celebrated in style: So see you on September 11!
