The idea of equipping typically European-style cars with oversized engines manufactured on the other side of the Atlantic is nothing new. Between 1956 and 1964, the French brand Facel lent its name to a sporty vehicle it produced, which was equipped with the most powerful Chrysler engine. In 1960, the English Gordon, a Bertone-bodied four-seater coupe with a tubular frame chassis and Chevrolet Corvette engine, appeared. After the project had to be abandoned due to a lack of interest among buyers, it was later resumed under the name Gordon-Keeble, but it never achieved the significance that the manufacturers expected. The Ghia 450 SS, equipped with a Barracuda mech, suffered a similar fate. In the meantime - in the spring of 1962 - another model of this type was launched: the five-seater Coupe Rivolta from the Italian brand Iso, designed by Bertone and equipped with a Corvette engine.
